Michelle met Dale one evening in July of 2015 while out with her co-workers for a birthday party at The Pint in Calgary. Dale was there with a few of his buddies after a round of golf, sporting some nice farmers tans and enjoying a few drinks. Nothing special. He ended up being there well in to the night, which he didn’t really plan, they only thought they would be there for a few drinks but then he spotted Michelle and ended up dancing with her on the dance floor. Eventually he got the courage to ask for her number when they were at the bar and she happily obliged.
He waited the classic two days before texting her and they arranged a first date at Chibo off of 17th ave. Michelle was pleasantly surprised on how well he cleaned up, no more golf gear but was actually very “business-like.” We all know its hard to remember what someone really looked like when you had a few drinks when you met them haha. Dale said he was so surprised at how normal she was and couldn’t get over how pretty she was (and is, of course) . The conversation was effortless, it was easy and natural.
It was only a short year and a few months later after they got their airedale puppy Murphy and bought their now home when Dale decided to propose to Michelle on a trip to Mexico. He proposed on her birthday and he never told anyone that he was going to do it so it was surprise for all! He originally planned to do it on a Kayak trip but the tide was too high so Dale suggested they go for a walk. It wasn’t until a lady from Denver asked for a photo that he decided it would be a great time to propose as she would capture it for him in return. Dale got down on one knee and asked Michelle to marry him, she asked, “what are you doing!?” And he replied, “are you going to say yes?” She did.
That brings us to this past weekend. Dale and Michelle got married at the beautiful High Country Tree Farm in Sorrento, BC. A stunning family run farm and venue that has it all and is only a short drive from Salmon Arm. They exchanged their vows on a mixed day of sunshine and strange sun showers surrounded by family and friends and did a special wine ceremony sealing away a bottle of wine and letters for them to open on their 5 year anniversary. The down pour of rain held off just in time for them to finish their family photos and join everyone for cocktails as husband and wife.
Besides speeches always being such a highlight for me as well as the vows, Michelle & Dales family and friends surprised them with a flash mob dance to the song, “Marry You” by Bruno Mars on the dance floor. It was incredible and soooo fun! They had no idea! It was amazing. Unfortunately one of Michelles friends and bridesmaids, Sam, was unable to attend because of an accident but she was given so many admirable references and shout outs by everyone there who loves her. It was over all just a beautiful day.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Bray and to sweet Murphy! I can’t wait for you to open that beautiful wine box on your 5 year anniversary and you can relive all of the wonderful memories of your day. xo
