They met while working together at West 3 years ago, he was a bouncer who had a crush on her and she was a bartender. One evening she had went in to the woman’s washroom to do a quick clean up when she had slipped on water (we have all seen how bar washrooms can get trashed) and ended up slicing (yikes!) her arm open. She laid in a pool of blood when Curtis came in and rescued her. It wasn’t until 6 months after they had both left West that they reconnected. Amanda messaged Curtis to thank him for saving her life and they ended up going on a date to Famoso. Curtis thought she was quiet and Amanda said she was thrown off by his love for Country music and how romantic (I think she actually said ‘sappy’ haha!) he was (said with the cutest smirk.)
From there they had a bit of a crazy start, the timing was off with Curtis transitioning careers and going back to school and finding time for each other was hard. They ended up breaking up and they were both heartbroken, trying to push forward with their lives. But one day Curtis wrote Amanda a letter saying he couldn’t move on. He loved her and couldn’t stop thinking about her. So they ended back together, stronger, and wanting to spend the rest of their lives together. He proposed last September on a birthday trip in Kelowna and on August 5, 2017, the man who saved her life, held her hand and promised to spend the rest of his with her.
It was the most wonderful day, despite their limo service being off by an hour Amanda and Curtis were unfazed, they took it in stride, and even welcomed the downpour of rain during their family formals as the best omen they could have for their day together. Rain after all is good luck! And according to Kim, Curtis’s mom, it had rained on his parents wedding day as well. Nothing could keep these two apart, not a near-death experience, not a break-up, not a little rain, or limo being late on their wedding day, nothing could dampen the incredible joy, love, and the determination they have for one another and the life they plan to create.
Congratulations again you two! Thank you so much for rolling with the punches with us and for sharing your incredible story with us. Love conquers all. xo
